Committee meeting held at Lenton on Tuesday 16th May 2006

Minutes of the previous meeting were agreed.

 

 

Skittles evening Saturday 18th March

 

This was a successful and enjoyable evening. Thirty one people attended with £113 raised through contributions and the raffle. It was noted that although hire of the hall is cheaper at Upton, the skittle set used at Hagbourne Hall gives a better game.

 

 

Treasurer’s Report

 

The current balance is £2002.53.  Coffee mornings held by the Village History Group and Val Walton raised a total of £292.00. Two more coffee mornings are being planned by Betty and Marion.

 

 

Triplets

 

Members agreed to give £1000 to Julia and the triplets from the Village Association. In addition the Tyrrell Trust is awarding a grant of £200.

 

 

Madge Trophy

 

Judging will take place in June, the date to be determined according to the judge’s availability.

Potential judges suggested for this year are Nick Hards, Carol Hackett and Roy Dodds.

Treasure Hunt and Village lunch on 16th July

 

The following were agreed:

 

  • People taking part in the treasure hunt to meet at Broomsticks at 12.00. Vouchers from WH Smiths or Dentons to be provided for prizes

 

  • Lunch will be served between 1.00 – 3.00

 

  • People to be asked to bring drinks, cutlery, chairs and tables. Plastic glasses, plates and polystyrene cups for coffee/tea will be provided by the Village Association.

 

  • Fliers to be distributed by the end of June. These will state that children should be accompanied by adults. Action: Mike

 

  • Tickets to cost £5.00 for adults and £2.50 for children. People are welcome to participate in both treasure hunt and lunch or lunch only.

 

  • Tickets will be available from Betty, Bridget, Marion and Mike.

 

  • Catering: the catering corps will provide ham salad, French bread, cheese, puddings, tea and coffee.

 

  • Roger will prepare a poster for the Parish Meeting.

 

 

Any Other Business

 

  1. Parish Meeting on Saturday 20th May: Peter, Simon and Roger agreed to help with the marquee. A Village Association annual report will be prepared ready for the Parish meeting.

 

  1. Events for next year: Peter asked members to think about what sort of events people would like for next year, and to consider whether to hold a West Hagbourne arts, music and drama weekend.

 

  1. Regulations governing public events: Roger confirmed that he will be contacting SODC(Licensing section) to obtain information/arrange for a presentation to the Association and the Parish Council on current regulations governing public events.

 

  1. A memorial seat for Mike Wilson and Jeff Higgins is being donated by their family and with permission from Sue and Chris Lay is to be placed near the moat at Manor Farm, overlooking the horse paddocks.

 

  1. Distribution of minutes: it was agreed to e-mail minutes on this occasion and for MJ to circulate a list of member’s e-mail addresses and phone numbers. Peter and Hazel are the only members not currently on e-mail but this is likely to change in the future.

 

  1. Next coffee morning: at Broomsticks on Saturday 8th July
