Minutes of previous meeting:
These were taken as read.
The current balance is £1130.13. Clive Alcock has audited the accounts. He has been given a £10 voucher in appreciation.
This year the judging will take place in August. Peter is to ask Roger Phipps, ex head gardener at the Botanic Garden, if he would do it. If he is not available, Betty has a contact, Brenda Andrews, who may be prepared to do it. Brenda was responsible for planning the millennium wood.
Various dates were considered. After consultation with Marion, who is kindly hosting the event, July 27 was agreed. It was decided that tickets would be £6 with additional glasses of Pimms available for £1. Other details of the day will be arranged at the next meeting. Hazel will arrange entry in newsletter.
Peter had contacted Welford Park and had dates for a possible visit. Unfortunately none of them was suitable. The date that would have been best for most people was June 29. Since the meeting Peter has contacted Welford Park but sadly that date is not good for them. The next available time would be Feb 2009 when we would be able to see the snowdrops and view the house. Peter is to check if Roulsham would be available June 29.
Val told us about the unearthing of the Growing Stone in Moor Lane. An article about it will be in the next newsletter.
A book has been published called West Hagbourne at the Court of Star Chamber. This is available for borrowing at Didcot library.
Betty suggested an autumn outing for the committee.
The History group has done a register of memorial trees. There will be an agenda item at the next parish meeting to discuss where memorial trees can be planted.
June is taking part in the Race for Life on June 8. If you would like to sponsor her, her email address is office2598@thameside.oxen.sch.uk.
8pm Tuesday 1 July at Woodleys.
