WEST HAGBOURNE VILLAGE ASSOCIATION
Committee
meeting held at Driftway on Tuesday 21 February 2006.
SUMMARY
OF DISCUSSION

Peter Mitchell (Chair) Marion Judd Betty Kendrick June Little Mike Parker |
Bridget Pickup Hazel Rack (minutes) Roger Sweet Keith Walton Val
Walton |
Matters
arising from previous minutes
An interest paying bank account was discussed. Keith
said not. He had looked into this previously and discovered there were taxation
issues. It was pointed out that both the
Tyrrel Trust and the Parish Council had such accounts. Keith said he would look
into it again.
Val said there had not been a meeting of the history
group since our last meeting. She would discuss with them the availability of
copies of Windsor Hakebourne and whether we could give copies to new residents.
The association could pay.
Regulations governing village
events.
It was suggested we could invite someone from the
council to talk to us about this. Peter thought it would be more appropriate for
the Parish Council to do this but suggested we ask if they have a leaflet
first. Roger will look on the council website and if necessary raise it as an
agenda item for the Parish Council.
Skittles
evening
It was discovered that we clashed with a "Twinning"
skittles evening. We have changed the date to Saturday18 March. Jeff Powell has
agreed to use his truck to get the alley but the equipment is very heavy and at
least three helpers will be needed. They will be needed noon on Saturday and
the next morning. Robert,
Keith L and Roger have all volunteered (or been volunteered!). Mike Keevil will be asked to help. Marion and June will organise flyers and tickets. There will be fish and chips
or sausage and chips. Orders will need to be taken at time of ticket sales.
Ticket sellers must ring Val on the previous Wednesday with numbers and
orders. Marion, Betty, June, Bridget, Hazel and Val will all provide an apple
pudding. June will provide cream and custard. Keith will organise
blackboard and prizes and June will organise a raffle.
Village
Mystery Trail
We discovered that this clashed with East Hagbourne
open gardens. Since the meeting I have talked to Simon and the date has been
changed to Sunday 16 July. Roger will update the website.
10
year Celebration
Peter reminded us that next year would be the tenth
anniversary of the village association. He suggested that we have a weekend of
crafts art and music to celebrate the occasion. This will be discussed more at
a future meeting.
Constitution
This was reviewed to see if any changes needed to be
made. June proposed that we change the maximum membership of the committee to
twelve. Keith seconded it and the motion was carried.
Coffee
morning
Val Walton is planning to hold a coffee morning and
bring and buy. The proceeds will also go towards a needy cause in the village.
AOB
Marion
said that Fred and Edna might have to erect Perspex covers for their chickens
if concerns about bird flu increase. Perhaps we could offer assistance if this
happens.
Roger
asked for help to erect a new map and notice board donated by the history group.
Keith and Mike agreed to help.
Val voiced her concern about the parish council's plan to remove the white lines from the roads in the village. Several people share her concern and feel it could increase accidents in the village. Others feel we have to try something to slow down traffic passing through the village.
-
Betty felt the plan to introduce wheelie bins
for garden rubbish was a waste of time as the bins were -too small. She felt it
would be better-to re-introduce bringing a skip to the village.
Date
of next meeting
Tuesday
16 May at Lenten, York Road.
