Minutes of the previous meeting

Correction: judging for the Madge Trophy this year was done by Reggie Dadds.

Madge Trophy

The cup has now been engraved with the name of the past two year’s winner (Bob Beacroft at Lilley Cottage). Members expressed some concern that the cup was unlikely to be won by anyone else at all over the next few years and suggested that perhaps next year’s competition could be for the best flowerpot in the village. The Committee will continue to consider possible solutions and will reach a decision in time for next year’s judging.

Treasurer’s Report

The current balance is £1227.72 minus the cost of engraving the Madge Cup.

Action: Keith to arrange for audit of accounts before the AGM

Triplets

The Village Association has received a letter of thanks from Julia for its contribution which has enabled her to purchase high chairs for the triplets.

Action: Val/Marion to ask Roger re pictures of the triplets to be placed on the village website.

Future events

Committee members discussed various suggestions for this autumn and next year’s events in light of decreased interest from residents. A theatre outing in November, a safari supper and a celebration of the Association’s 10th anniversary are all possibilities.

It was agreed that Committee members will go out for a meal together on Sunday 12th November at 1.00, venue to be confirmed.

Action: Betty and Val

A spring Committee outing was also suggested, either to Milton House, Buscot House or Kingston Bagpuize House. A future visit to Highgrove involves a two year wait and would need to be booked now if people are interested.

N.B: June is holding the next Coffee Morning at Lenton on Friday 27th October

Action: Peter to obtain more information about houses to visit.

Marion to advertise Coffee Morning in Newsletter.

  1. Village Association AGM: The AGM is being  held on Tuesday 7th November at Broomsticks

  1. Mike and Jeff’s bench: It was reported that a muntjac deer and a pair of stoats have been sighted from the bench.
