Sadly our Treasurer, Keith Walton died in June this year. He is greatly missed by the Association and the village. Many thanks to June who kindly accepted the position as Treasurer.

Early in 2016 the village marquees were stored with the tables and chairs at York Farm by kind permission pf Mr. and Mrs. Allen. Thanks to Robert for checking the equipment and taking bookings for hiring it out to villagers.

The Annual Dragon Competition to celebrate St. George’s Day took place 9th to 23rd April. The displayed dragons had a birthday theme in recognition of the Queen’s 90th Birthday. The large dragon was situated on the far bank of the pond as the depth of the water now prevents it from sitting in the middle. The judge was Sharon Jenkins from Steventon.

Prize winning Dragons: 1st Prize : 1, Manor Close,  2ndPrize Chapel Hayes, Main Street,  Children’s Prize: Little Acorns Nursery.

The afternoon teas event planned to take place on 23rd April was cancelled due to cold wet weather and a disappointing number of dragons displayed.

The  Queen’s Birthday Party Event took place at the Horse and Harrow on 12th June 2016. This successful event, organised by the Village Association and the Parish Council was attended by almost 100 villagers along with regulars from the Horse and Harrow. We are grateful to Helen for all her hard work with the catering and provision of the entertainment. It was agreed to present Helen with a bouquet of flowers at our A.G.M. meeting on November 14th.

The Madge Trophy judging of the gardens took place on 1st August. The report by Angela Phillips who judged the gardens is in the October Village News.

Joint Winners were 10, and 14 Manor Close with a special mention to 16, York Road.
