These were taken as read
Hazel reported that there had been 5 committee meetings this year with an average of 9 members at each. There was only one event this year. This was a free lunch to celebrate 10years of the village association.
Peter said that this was the Association’s tenth year and the social highlight of the year was undoubtedly the free Sunday lunch to mark the occasion. It was extremely successful and the 90 or so who turned out enjoyed an excellent meal. The success was almost entirely due to the catering team. Once again the venue was ideal, thanks to Marion’s generosity. Some of our talented young musicians came along to provide music during the afternoon and were much appreciated. Peter went on to say that lunchtime events do seem to get the most support whereas many people are not so keen to turn out in the evenings.
The occasional Sunday lunchtime meals have also proved popular.
Towards the end of last year a tree was planted in memory of Steve Gore. It was good to meet up with Julia, the triplets and Julia’s parents who came for the tree planting ceremony.
The committee decided to move the AGM to February this year and possibly March or April 2009 to coincide with the Parish Council’s annual reporting period.
Back in the summer the judging of villager’s front gardens took place and the Madge trophy was awarded to Cornerways on York Road. We replaced the cup this year and the original has been given to Mrs Madge for safekeeping.
Peter finished by saying it was good to work with a committee who are prepared to give continual support and work hard to ensure the success of events. Thanks to all.
Treasurer’s Report
Keith reported that there had been very little change in the finances this year. The only expenses were the free lunch, the Madge trophy and an audit. The cost of the lunch was partly offset by a raffle held on the day. The balance at the start of the year was £1253.84 and at the end £1131.33. Keith is to arrange an end of year audit.

Roger asked if everyone had seen the paper on St. George’s Day activities. It was thought it might be interesting to do something but felt it was too late for this year.
We decided to start planning something in the autumn for April 2009.
We also thought it might be nice to repeat our Pate Pimm’s and Puddings event. This will be discussed at our next meeting.
Peter suggested a trip to Welford Park. He will check what dates are available.
The next meeting will be held at Mike Parker’s on Wednesday 7 May at 8pm.
